Referred to as the poet of the piano, Chopin (1810-1949) is known for his gorgeous melodies so beloved for the past 200 years. The French-derived title, "Chopin, Always with You" depicts this sense of endearment for his music.

This composition was first introduced in the 2010 Band Journal (a popular Japanese wind band magazine) commemorating the composer's bicentennial. Since Chopin's melodies are not often translated to the wind band medium, it is my hope that many will enjoy his splendid musical gifts.

Melodies used:

• Beginning - Grande valse brillante in E-flat major, Op. 18. 

• Mm. 69 - Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9, No. 2. 

• Mm. 101 - Etude Op. 25, No. 9 in G-flat major, known as the Butterfly Etude.

 

These are the primary melodies used in this section. Others include:

• Mm. 133 - Etude Op. 10, No. 12 in C minor, known as the Revolutionary Etude or the Etude on the Bombardment of Warsaw.

• Mm. 141 - 24 Preludes, Op. 28, No. 24 in D minor

• Towards the end (let's see if you can find it) - the melody from middle of Fantaisie-Impromptu in C-sharp minor, Op. posth. 66.

If necessary, some mallet parts can be omitted if there are not enough percussionists.
